MarketsThank you for your interest in our Homes for the Holidays program. Below you will find details about Homes for the Holidays and the various markets in which the program operates. HOMES FOR THE HOLIDAYSThe “Homes for the Holidays” program assists single parent families realize the dream of first-time home ownership by providing down payment assistance on a house and furnishing it with everything a first-time homeowner would need, including: furniture, food, linens, lawn mower, gardening supplies, washer, dryer, dishes, pots and pans, etc. The program is the primary focus of the Warrick Dunn Foundation and since its inception has helped 74 single parents and 192 dependents in Atlanta, GA, Baton Rouge, LA, Tampa and St. Petersburg, FL, and Tallahassee, FL. RECIPIENT SELECTIONThe “Homes for the Holidays” program collaborates with non-profit organizations that manage first-time homebuyer programs, such as Habitat for Humanity, United Way’s IDA program, and Community Redevelopment programs nationwide. Once each year, our partnering non-profits anonymously nominate single parents who have successfully completed mandatory course work to properly prepare themselves for home ownership. Through these anonymous nominations, Warrick then selects our “Homes for the Holidays” recipients. They have NO IDEA they are even being considered! Although there is no “list” to sign up for, and we do not take nominations directly from individuals, we will gladly refer you to our partners so you can begin your journey to becoming a first-time homeowner. It’s important to understand that these programs help people prepare for first-time home ownership on a daily basis. Our partners cannot promise that you will be nominated to the "Homes for the Holidays" program, but they can help you become a homeowner if you are willing to apply yourself. Signing up for such a program is no guarantee that you will be nominated to us, but you will at the very least be one step closer to home ownership. Many of these programs offer down payment assistance and/or grants once the course work is completed. In addition, they find below market interest rate loans for their clients, so a monthly mortgage is obtainable for even those with the lowest of incomes. Good luck in your journey!
